Medical chest

This is a typical 17th century medicine chest. People did not know very much about germs so they didn't wash their hands before or after operations.
They thought there were four different liquids which are blood, phlegm, yellow bile and black bile.
If anyone was ill they thought it must be because they didn't have the equal amounts of the four liquids.
They made patients be sick, sweat or bleed.
