Samuel Pepys

Samuel Pepys, the well-known clerk, secretary and diarist lived in the local area of Brampton. His diary is world famous and so we have compiled facts about his life and how he lived it.

Career:

In 1660 Pepys was on the ship that brought Charles II back to England. Samuel Pepys left his school and worked for the Privy Seal as a secretary before he became secretary to the navy. Part of this was because of his relationship with Edward Montague and king Charles II. Pepys had been poor up to this time. His career advanced rapidly, and he became secretary of the Admiralty.
