  • Homepage
  • Calendar
  • Discussions
  • Resources
  • Favourite websites
  • Online polls

Course

A course is where a teacher will work with their class to set them work and store assessments. Courses contain all of the tools of a community plus:

  • Online assignments, students submit their work in electronic format using the course.
  • Offline assignments, the teacher sets the work using the system but the student submits it manually.
  • Online tests, the teacher creates an online test for the students to complete, the test is self marking.

Adaptamations

This is the name for digitalbrain's content creation tools that allow staff and students to develop interactive content such as news updates, quizes and word searches by following a simple wizard.

Groups

Groups are how digitalbrain users are managed and may contain sub groups such as 'departments and year teams'. Placing users into groups allows:

  • Access rights to be set to that group.
  • Communities and courses to be populated appropriately (createlinks to groups first and copy these into the membership)
  • A useful school email address book to be created.

Safe mail and Safe house groups

All users placed within these two groups within the portal groups area will have restricted access over their account:
Safe Mail - users within this group can only send and receive emails to other school users.
Safe House - users within this group can not change their passwords or create 'groups'.

Online Polls

These are anonymous surveys that digitalbrain users can create and complete.

Mail or Threaded Discussions

Threaded discussions are usually created within a community or course and allow their members to chat in an email like way. All discussions can be read by the whole group and remain within the community or course and don't clog up a user's email inbox.
